Archaeology Week Event: “Daring” shipwreck rescue

Archaeology Week (27 April – 5 May) is organised by the New Zealand Archaeological Association, with the objective of increasing public awareness of archaeology and protecting our archaeological heritage.   Around the country a variety of events are being hosted by consultant archaeologists, museums, heritage organisations and iwi.  These include public talks, historic walks and displays in regions from the Far North to the Deep South.

Auckland:

 At the Auckland Maritime Museum, ‘Rescuing the Daring’, the 1863 Mangawhai-built schooner, a Heritage NZ presentation in partnership with the Daring Restoration Charitable Trust and the Auckland Maritime Museum,  on Thursday 2 May, 6 to 8pm.
