The government has announced its intention to modernise conservation laws, with the Wildlife Act earmarked for reform first.
The Environmental Defence Society’s recent interim working paper, An Opportunity for Transformational Change of Aotearoa New Zealand’s Biodiversity Law, will form part of EDS’s next report on the conservation system. It is intended to stimulate discussion and progress thinking on what new wildlife legislation might look like.
In this free 1-hour webinar, Aotearoa New Zealand’s wildlife law: An opportunity for transformational change, authors Shay Schlaepfer, Dr Deidre Koolen-Bourke and Raewyn Peart will provide an overview of the key issues with the Wildlife Act and the main findings presented in the working paper, followed by an opportunity for questions and comments.
