Dr Pishief is a PhD in Heritage and Museum Studies and has worked for the Department of Conservation, Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Auckland Council, and Opus (WSP) International Consultants. She runs her own consultancy firm, specialising in Māori culture , local heritage sites, and historic research. Her belief from her professional training and voluntary experience is that successful heritage protection relies on an active, independent, vocal and enthusiastic local heritage community.
