Historic Places Aotearoa National Community Heritage Conference:
Local Heritage Matters
A programme has been planned to bring together passionate individuals from all over the country to talk about what they do for our precious heritage. It’s an event for everybody – heritage groups, historical societies, iwi, hapū, museums, genealogists, local historians, archivists… everybody who is involved in or wants to be involved in the story of how we got to where we are today.
Three highlights from the wide and varied programme:
Friday: Your registration includes the Biennial Hawke’s Bay Heritage Awards – Enjoy a great evening hearing about Hawke’s Bay’s heritage heroes and the buildings they love and look after.
Saturday: Begins with the keynote speech from our Historic Places Aotearoa patron, Dame Anne Salmond, CBE FBA FNAZ FRSNZ.
Sunday: Ends with a subject that we can all relate to – food! Duncan Galletly is a collector of cookbooks from the first days of colonial New Zealand – and what a story they tell of how our ancestors lived!
Book your tickets before 30 September to take advantage of the early bird discount.
