For over 20 years in the 1980s and 1990s 29 Princes St, known as Hamurana, was the home of Civic Trust Auckland. One of the five merchant houses still preserved on Princes St, backing on to Albert Park, Hamurana has an important place in the history of Civic Trust Auckland.
In our 50th year, we thought it would be interesting to revisit Hamurana and reflect on that history,
We will also be able to visit the neighbour No. 27, which has modifications by architect Roy Lippincott.
There will be photos and material to bring back memories, along with reminisces from Civic Trust members who worked out of Hamurana.
Refreshments will be provided at Hamurana.
Paid parking is available on Princes St, and there are several parking buildings nearby. Several bus routes go down Symonds St, one block away, and the Outer Link bus goes along Princes St, from Wellesley St, and down Alfred St, with a stop outside the University Library, about 150 metres away.
