Protestors continue to gather in front of the building from 11am to midday on Saturdays, highlighting the lack of protection for the building.

Building One is listed as Category 1 with Heritage NZ, which translates to a place of special or outstanding historical or cultural significance, and it is scheduled as Category A with Auckland Council, meaning it is a heritage structure of supreme significance requiring strict protection.

Chris Casey, a trustee of the Cachet Foundation, a charity which which aims to support artists and protect heritage buildings, says the priority for the building right now is to weatherproof it, particularly the roof.

Civic Trust Auckland members are part of the protest group and the discussions about how to get those responsible to provide the protection needed for this important building.
