The following post is from the Waitemata Local Board regarding its heritage buildings that will need earthquake strengthening:
“Don’t panic! The Grey Lynn Library and Community Hall, the Leys Institute Gymnasium, the Leys Institute Library and Community Hall, Studio One Toi Tu, toilets in Gt North Road, and the Freeman’s Bay Play Centre have all been yellow-stickered as earthquake-prone.But that doesn’t mean they are closing, or even unsafe. They will have to be upgraded, but Auckland Council has 35 years to do it.”
