David Bade, Specialist in Built Heritage Policy, from the Heritage Unit at Auckland Council, presented the latest Auckland’s Heritage Counts 2019 to heritage enthusiasts last evening. The event was suitably held in the heritage Council Chambers in the Town Hall.
The audience heard about how Aucklanders value their heritage and are concerned for its preservation.
The Heritage Counts programme started in 2018. It involves collecting statistics and research on Auckland’s heritage places. The research aims to raise awareness of the extent and variety of heritage places, and the social and economic benefits they bring.
The Heritage Unit produce a document summarising this information in October each year.
