Our annual general meeting was held on the afternoon of Saturday 23 November at John Kinder House. Our president, Allan Matson, presented his report of the Board’s activities for the year, and the report will be emailed to all on the CTA database.
The Board of 2023 was re-elected with no changes.
Dr Phillip Hartley, a Senior Associate at Salmond Reed Architects, gave a presentation about heritage buildings in both England and New Zealand that have been repaired as part of their restoration, with some of this work done very well and some unfortunately done poorly. He highlighted how necessary it is for those working on restoration to understand the materials that have been used in construction of heritage buildings and what the options are for acceptable and robust repair. (Pictured is one of the buildings discussed: Phillip Webb’s Red House in Upton, England.)
After the meeting, attendees enjoyed some afternoon tea together, including a CTA classic: strawberries and cream.
