The new Unitary Plan, now partially operative, is already showing the potential loss of residential heritage in Onehunga.
Recently sold, this villa at 184 Arthur St was owned for many years by former MP, and now Waitemata Local Board member Richard Northey. The property is zoned for Terrace and Apartment Buildings, and there is no heritage overlay.

Another property at 11 Queenstown Rd, also for sale, and zoned Mixed Housing Suburban, is being marketed as suitable for townhouses.
Both these substantial villas are likely to be removed from Onehunga.
